And Our Sittin' Porch

One of the reasons we loved this house design soooo much was the porches. We picture ourselves out on the porch much of the time when the weather allows. Part of the porch will be screened in so we have an area that will be bug free during the worst of the buggy season. The balance of the porch will be open for our non-buggy season. This was a compromise and I know we are going to be happy with having both options.

Our porch floor is underway and we are thrilled to have our "framer guys" being the installers. They do such a professional job on everything they touch. Great guys to have around too!

Front steps being expanded per plan and the side stairs being constructed. I feel like Scarlett...just need the billowing skirt and Southern accent to decend the stairway! Ahhh Tara...

  1. Great site! We also just retired (but, sadly, have not hit natural gas on our lot in Florida) and also wish to build a modified version of Tideland Haven (we call it Tideland Hovel). We're thinking we need it closer to 2000 sq. ft. and also wish to square some corners (lose the big garden tub) and eliminate just about all French doors and some windows to keep costs down as you seem to be doing. Back screened porch becomes a carport, etc.
Can you share your floor plan? Did you buy the plan first from SL, then hire the architect?

  2. OK - I share your love of this house floor plan. I am thinking of building. However, I can't find ANY SITE that provides a rough estimate of how much it costs to build this house. I am not a gazillionaire where money is no option. I need to know. Can someone, anyone tell me ROUGHLY what it costs roughly to build Tideland Haven?
