With the Weather Willin' and the Crick Don't Rise

Finally planted the garden. Morris and boys tilled it while we were in Florida with our families. We arrived back to stormy weather and just were able to plant these past few days. Now the seeds are in, the sun is shining and we are eagerly awaiting the new growth.

Hoping to break ground for our new home's foundation on Tuesday...keeping our fingers crossed and eyes to the sky!

Bees and Granddaughters

Next week we visit our dear darlings in Florida...Bryn, Andy, Chloe, Millie and Brianna as well as my three sisters, and Butch's family. Chloe invited her Pa to speak with her class about the farm he is developing so today we took photos of the progress his bees are making. Unfortunately you can't see the "Official Beekeeper Outfit" I'm wearing as I was taking the photos. Butch, ever the gentleman, let me wear the more protective gear. I'll suit him up for photos another day. I just love a man in uniform!

Opening up the hive...

Smokin' the bees...

Checking the progress...combs forming and there is honey in some of the cells!

Closing the hive back up and no stings for either of us!

Building Update....

There is none til we dry out completely...in the meantime...Butch put together my composter so we can make rich soil for both the garden and my lanai and indoor plants. Notice how much help Buster Buddy is! At the end of the construction Butch was pleased to have no stray parts lying around and to celebrate he decided to engage in a little silly sword play...are we having fun yet?...yes we are!
